And Thunder on the Right, the one set in the convent, is my least favorite Mary Stewart.elizabethhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17825540813779206354noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1203893324932668537.post-31690497099478996072014-02-08T07:03:31.368-06:002014-02-08T07:03:31.368-06:00Jane, I can't say I enjoyed Wildfire at Midnig...Jane, I can't say I enjoyed Wildfire at Midnight :) but everything else I've read has been really good - and unlike Jenny above, I love the Merlin books.Lisahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17782561487396697870noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1203893324932668537.post-60829715233613737902014-02-07T20:44:54.693-06:002014-02-07T20:44:54.693-06:00Mary Stewart was amazing--I have yet to read a Mar...Mary Stewart was amazing--I have yet to read a Mary Stewart novel that I don't like. I do not recommend starting with that one! There's also one set partly in a convent that's supposed to be pretty dire.

Helen, I was looking through Brat Farrar last night, before I wrote this one up, and I think I'll be reading it again soon - I've forgotten all but the broad outline of the plot.Lisahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17782561487396697870noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1203893324932668537.post-36530866011240290882014-02-07T15:39:25.415-06:002014-02-07T15:39:25.415-06:00I enjoyed this one too, though it isn't a favo...I enjoyed this one too, though it isn't a favourite. I'm sure it would be fascinating to re-read it and look out for little hints and clues. You've also reminded me that I still haven't read Brat Farrar!Helenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06618973352348296555noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1203893324932668537.post-30508564845109636352014-02-07T06:59:26.453-06:002014-02-07T06:59:26.453-06:00Wow, a resounding recommendation! The Ivy Tree sounds really good though.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1203893324932668537.post-34880397245899716162014-02-07T03:33:47.217-06:002014-02-07T03:33:47.217-06:00I think Brat Farrar is the better book, mostly bec...I think Brat Farrar is the better book, mostly because I thought The Ivy Tree was a bit silly at the end (but then Brat Farrar also has a bit of over-tying of the ends too), but the build-up was so spectacular: I kept changing my mind again and again about the heroine. I think this might be my favourite Mary Stewart now, but like you I really want to re-read it to see how it worked!skiourophilehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08200877834536477400noreply@blogger.com
