It has about 25 books so far. I found it very liberating to get rid of all those books - worth the twinge of guilt over the money I'd wasted on them. But they do start to feel like an obligation, and not something to look forward to.Lisahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17782561487396697870noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1203893324932668537.post-87337479388508690662012-04-04T18:32:11.479-05:002012-04-04T18:32:11.479-05:00Well done - to stick to it is impressive and to re...Well done - to stick to it is impressive and to reduce your TBR by 71 is quite remarkable.FleurFisherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00096222149445024649noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1203893324932668537.post-90748560199439479702012-04-04T16:19:59.336-05:002012-04-04T16:19:59.336-05:00Congratulations on reducing the pile! I found the ...Congratulations on reducing the pile! I found the same as you - so many wonderful books were recommended by bloggers, which I bought and did not have time to read. There are now two bookcases of them, and to be honest, the thought of reading them has become a chore rather than a pleasure. So for the past year or so I have listed books I like the sound of instead of buying them - I now have over 100 books I can buy should the need ever arise!Michelle Annhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07499490029910905577noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1203893324932668537.post-88797979776936680862012-04-04T07:00:23.003-05:002012-04-04T07:00:23.003-05:00Congratulations on completing the dare! I've been donating quite a few to the library book sale too, and it's fun to see them turn up on the sales shelves - then I don't feel so guilty about not having read them.Lisahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17782561487396697870noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1203893324932668537.post-18107835516179539042012-04-03T12:59:09.025-05:002012-04-03T12:59:09.025-05:00Congratulations, Lisa! I always want to join this challenge, but just know that I won't stick to it.
I have started weeding my bookcases, though, and have found it enlightening to see how many books I've bought on a whim that I have no intention of ever reading. Very revealing! I've started giving them to my library's book sale and my bookcases look much better.Anbolynhttp://gudrunstights.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1203893324932668537.post-22486137610372546852012-04-01T17:27:56.601-05:002012-04-01T17:27:56.601-05:00Definitely eye-opening, I'm looking at my book...Definitely eye-opening, I'm looking at my bookshelves very differently these days!

My only concern with the "easy to get at the library" guide that is there seem to be fewer & fewer books in our libraries these days, and the ones we do have are recent books - the older books are being culled and disposed of.Lisahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17782561487396697870noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1203893324932668537.post-11354272917664506742012-04-01T14:37:14.751-05:002012-04-01T14:37:14.751-05:00IT's an eye-opening challenge, isn't it. ...IT's an eye-opening challenge, isn't it. I had a very similar experience last year when I did it for the first time. I made it through this time around as well. Today, I'm doing a very serious culling of my TBR bookcase.

I've decided that if it's a book I can easily get at the library, there is no reason for me to keep it unread on my own shelves. Books that are harder to find, I'll keep for a while. But really, five years unread is enough.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06906212382849291562noreply@blogger.com
