I have a similar feeling about TV shows & film, I don't want to know too much about how they are made - I never watch those "the making of" features - because knowing too much can make it difficult to believe in the story. I have to admit though that I've had more than a little hero-worship about some authors - like Dorothy Dunnett. I could hardly get a word out when I finally got to meet her.Lisahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17782561487396697870noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1203893324932668537.post-7218921834566468962013-06-09T05:27:38.813-05:002013-06-09T05:27:38.813-05:00I'm starting to think I'm in a minority of...I'm starting to think I'm in a minority of readers who aren't terribly interested in the authors who produced the books I read. Maybe I'm a sociopath?!! I noticed this at the literary festival I went to recently in Sydney - a lot of people there seemed to be able to transfer their enthusiasm straight from book to writer (almost interchangeably) and were almost shocked when some authors weren't quite so keen to open their lives to the love!skiourophilehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08200877834536477400noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1203893324932668537.post-12285261093637921592013-06-05T06:20:12.187-05:002013-06-05T06:20:12.187-05:00Simon, her account of how she got back into nursin...Simon, her account of how she got back into nursing is (of course) pretty funny and also a bit disturbing. Not entirely surprising, I suppose!

What a shame that there isn't much about her own reading, though. Have you read Sheila Kaye-Smith's My Life in Books? It's basically an autobiography through books, which is delicious!StuckInABookhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10017836017530130716noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1203893324932668537.post-87940836271539360862013-06-02T07:04:24.781-05:002013-06-02T07:04:24.781-05:00Kristin, she talks about some of her jobs from One...Kristin, she talks about some of her jobs from One Pair of Hands, but not just repeating the stories. I enjoyed hearing more about them!

Cat, I am looking forward more than ever now to One Pair of Feet (to see why it was so controversial!) and also My Turn to Make the Tea.Lisahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17782561487396697870noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1203893324932668537.post-80216487391729050222013-06-01T17:33:12.707-05:002013-06-01T17:33:12.707-05:00I love to read author biographies. It sounds so interesting! This autobiography is going on my to-read list for sure.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
