I have the same reaction to people who argue that our civil war had nothing to do with slavery. With the Armenian genocide, I am also amazed at the lengths that Turkey has gone to deny it - and still does.Lisahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17782561487396697870noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1203893324932668537.post-44618780119407122652015-04-19T04:20:47.396-05:002015-04-19T04:20:47.396-05:00"I began to wonder whether our obsession with..."I began to wonder whether our obsession with genocide recognition was worth its emotional and psychological price." - such an interesting point, isn't it, when faced with so much trauma. The statement by the Pope noted the massacre as the first of the big three of the 20th century, which only increases that intangible sense of survivor guilt. Holocaust denial remains a sadly familiar narrative. That sounds a very interesting book. skiourophilehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08200877834536477400noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1203893324932668537.post-34114835837719281172015-04-15T23:10:02.465-05:002015-04-15T23:10:02.465-05:00I was in the exact same boat, Jenny, & I feel ...I was in the exact same boat, Jenny, & I feel like I learned so much from this and the article. It's interesting -- I don't know anything about the history there, except that there was a genocide, and Turkey denies it. I really need to read a proper book about it!Jenny @ Reading the Endhttp://readingtheend.comnoreply@blogger.com
