Maybe someone at MB had a grudge against Thirkell :)Lisahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17782561487396697870noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1203893324932668537.post-29332845462883994462013-12-03T07:25:03.141-06:002013-12-03T07:25:03.141-06:00I'm always delighted when a familiar character...I'm always delighted when a familiar character pops up in a Pym novel…wonder if she knew how much fun this was for her readers. Moyer Bell must have employed a new copy editor after the disaster with the Thirkell books ;-)JoAnnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13691864361197071517noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1203893324932668537.post-24105437823180602312013-12-01T20:49:33.684-06:002013-12-01T20:49:33.684-06:00Anbolyn, I have A Glass of Blessings right here as...Anbolyn, I have A Glass of Blessings right here as I type - I bought it at the same time as this one. I liked Jane so much - more than Prudence - and I felt protective of her!Lisahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17782561487396697870noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1203893324932668537.post-101212235600785632013-12-01T15:41:12.601-06:002013-12-01T15:41:12.601-06:00This is my third favorite Pym (after Excellent Wom...This is my third favorite Pym (after Excellent Women and A Glass of Blessings). I agree about overdosing on her books - they are best if you space them out. I haven't read one since the reading week back in June and feel that it is time to return to her now and that I will enjoy whatever I choose next more for it. I think Jane is a wonderful character - definitely a woman who many of us can identify with. I think you'll enjoy Excellent Women.

vicki, she blends those details into the story, so it doesn't feel like product placement or anything like that. With this book, I was amused at Jane's horror over the idea of garlic in the salad - not suitable for the vicarage family!Lisahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17782561487396697870noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1203893324932668537.post-35699886168063309192013-12-01T00:35:44.673-06:002013-12-01T00:35:44.673-06:00I love the descriptions of daily life - perhaps I ...I love the descriptions of daily life - perhaps I mean 'ordinary life' - in these books. I should go back to it, having met Mildred since but not having known who she was when she was mentioned here. But anyway, I'm not tempted to binge on her books. Not that your one-a-month schedule would qualify as binging - just a little too close together for me too.Lisahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17782561487396697870noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1203893324932668537.post-46145323457423461392013-11-29T19:16:01.713-06:002013-11-29T19:16:01.713-06:00Wise of you not to rush the Pyms. I made it to nine - but I should have stopped earlier and waited to savour the rest. Too much of a good thing . . . is still too much. ;-)Debbie Rodgershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15630059470408161434noreply@blogger.com
