I think at one point the Wodehouse section was bigger than the Trollope (by number of books, not by size of course).Lisahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17782561487396697870noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1203893324932668537.post-87199353192543598862014-01-19T23:37:08.360-06:002014-01-19T23:37:08.360-06:00I haven't read any Wodehouse for AGES - and I&...I haven't read any Wodehouse for AGES - and I'm pretty sure I've not gone beyond Jeeves/Wooster. It's just those overflowing high spirits of his. I dote on Uncle Fred.

Helen, there are just so many wonderful books - the series (the Mulliner & golf stories, Ukridge, Uncle Fred), and then the stand-alones (pretty much anything with Money in the title :)Lisahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17782561487396697870noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1203893324932668537.post-72355764255137872492014-01-19T13:48:50.496-06:002014-01-19T13:48:50.496-06:00I've read some of the Jeeves and Wooster books...I've read some of the Jeeves and Wooster books, which I enjoyed, but still haven't tried any of the Psmith or Blandings books yet. I think it would drive me mad to have him as a sibling but as an uncle he is, like Uncle Fred, divine. Let me know if you need any suggestions :) Oh, and you could fill up quite a few years of your Century of Books with PGW & Heyer - and their books are easier to find than say Thirkell's.

Michelle, I hadn't met Lady Hermione before (as I remember), and here she was in both books. Constance is more usually in residence, I think. You're reading Service with a Smile, right? I still have that one on the TBR stacks too (to my shame). Uncle Fred is right up there with Psmith & Gally in my list of favorite characters!Lisahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17782561487396697870noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1203893324932668537.post-43303455369930671542014-01-19T02:25:01.077-06:002014-01-19T02:25:01.077-06:00I am currently over at Blandings too, with the com...I am currently over at Blandings too, with the company of Uncle Fred, Lady Constance (I didn't know Lord Emsworth had 4 sisters), the dastardly Duke of Dunstable (who is plotting to steal the Empress with the nasty new secretary Lavender Briggs) and a bunch Church Lads' Brigade all camped out on the grounds. :) This is my second outing at Blandings, and I am already quite sure I enjoy them much more than Bertie & Jeeves.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1203893324932668537.post-49060744191735772542014-01-18T20:58:04.255-06:002014-01-18T20:58:04.255-06:00I think it is about time I tried Wodehouse. Oh and I need to also try Heyer.
I used to really dislike this type of humor, but as I get older I appreciate it more. In my younger days I would have hated Thirkell and Wodehouse, but now I can appreciate their talent.Anbolynhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10080054175904900094noreply@blogger.com
