I will be keeping an eye out for that one. I agree completely with you about how well she balances the different twists - some of which caught me by surprise. I also agree with you about the carp, though I've never actually tried it and don't plan to.Lisahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17782561487396697870noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1203893324932668537.post-78093186508221881112011-12-28T21:46:35.483-06:002011-12-28T21:46:35.483-06:00Oh Lisa, I'm so glad you enjoyed this! There are so many delightful plot twists and somehow Ibbotson manages to keep them all exciting and intriguing rather than tiresome. Though I think Ibbotson's greatest wizardry comes in making the Christmas carp sound so delicious! I don't care what you do to it, nutmeg or not, I shall never be made to like carp but here she had even me tempted.

I too love the usefulness of Ibbotson's heroines; I'm currently rereading Magic Flutes and Tessa is astoundingly useful and, of course, I love her for it.Claire (The Captive Reader)https://www.blogger.com/profile/07430380065718826213noreply@blogger.com
